I graduated from Harper Adams Agricultural University in 2016, soon after becoming a member of the CAAV and RICS, respectively.

I have a diverse range of professional experience covering all aspects of professional work.

I have also worked on behalf of large utility companies in the north east, manage traditional estates across the north and gained a wide variety of knowledge in general practice.

I am an avid sports enthusiast taking an interest in pretty much any sport I can try my hand at, from Snowboarding, Rugby and Football to Darts, Motorbike Racing and fishing.

I enjoy shooting and being outdoors whenever possible! I will more than likely be wearing shorts come rain or shine.

I cover a wide range of surveying disciplines.

I bring a wealth of both public and private sector experience in managing a £3bn property portfolio NHS Property Services Ltd. This position involved the primary role of managing and executing Headlease and Sublease activity across the portfolio and delivering cost efficiency for the NHS.

I led the national Lease Advisory Team for over 9 years; and provided savings across one of Europe’s largest portfolios of 1,032 Leasehold properties with a passing rent of £117,571,000. This experience has led me to expertise in Lease Renewals, Rents Reviews, Landlord & Tenant and Valuation, providing expert guidance for GPs, Trusts, Pharmacies, Dentists and all manner of commercial clients.

My previous commercial experience includes Local Government and Private Sector companies undertaking secured lending valuations for commercial property investment banking, managing large investment portfolios and RICS valuation work for public sector & private clients.
As a Chartered Surveyor & Registered Valuer, I have an abundance of Residential Surveying experience with 20+ years of managing and valuing large portfolios for large blue chip clients and individual private clients.

I am a keen sportsman and enjoy spending time with my family.

I joined Wignall Chartered Surveyors after spending over 17 years as a Planning Officer within the Development Management team at a Local Planning Authority. During that time, I built up a strong working knowledge of the planning system across a wide range of sectors, including residential, commercial, retail, and agricultural development.

I specialise in rural planning matters, particularly development in the Green Belt and open countryside, which is an area I’m genuinely passionate about. I support clients through the full planning process – from preparing and submitting planning applications to engaging in public consultations and negotiating with local authorities and statutory consultees. I have always enjoyed finding practical, considered solutions to planning challenges.

I hold a Masters of Civic Design (Planning) from the University of Liverpool, graduating with distinction in 2007.

Outside of work, I love travelling with my family. Lately, we have been enjoying UK-based holidays – often centred around a visit to a local farm, thanks to my son’s enthusiasm for farm animals and tractors!

I am a chartered surveyor with over 25 years’ experience, in an extensive range of professional work including estate management, residential developments, site finding for renewable development opportunities, managing large and diverse landholdings for private and institutional landowners and business throughout the North West. As well working for private consultancy firms for the bulk of my career I have also worked in the residential development sector managing existing development sites and actively seeking out new development opportunities including keeping a watching brief on emerging and current local plans and negotiating with landowners and their agents. This broad experience has equipped me with the rare combination of working with both developers and the landowning and farming sector.

I have also worked as a resident land agent on a large and diversified portfolio in the North West, managing the estate team and preserving and enhancing the estate’s agricultural, residential and commercial assets together with identifying long term strategic development opportunities. My experience also includes foreshore management including negotiating terms for fibre optic cables, pipelines, offshore and onshore wind farms, new bridge crossings, sporting, environmental and leisure opportunities.

Outside of work I am transitioning from fell running to cycling to help preserve my joints and combat the effects of middle age and have an active family life in the foothills of the Lake District.

I graduated from the University of Manchester with a Master’s degree in Town Planning in 2019. Prior to undertaking my postgraduate studies, I gained voluntary experience at a Local Planning Authority, working as a graduate planner for several months, which gave me valuable insight into the day-to-day work of a planning professional. While completing my thesis, I joined a private planning consultancy based in Preston, initially as a graduate planner and progressing to the role of Senior Planner before moving on several years later.

In my current role, I provide planning advice and strategies for clients, managing pre-application and planning submissions for a range of clients, many of whom are based in the local area. I particularly enjoy developing clear and effective planning strategies that help clients achieve outcomes they didn’t think possible, such as securing permission for their dream home!

Outside of work, I’m a lifelong football fan and a dedicated Bolton Wanderers supporter, having held a season ticket for over two decades! Although I no longer play, I stay active by training at the gym and running outdoors. I recently completed my first marathon and plan to take on more events in the future. I also have a Golden Retriever who loves adventuring, joining me and my partner on UK staycations, peak climbs, and trips to the beach whenever possible.

I graduated from Harper Adams University in 2023 and I am planning to take my RICS and CAAV exams in the next year.

I have previously worked for local firms nearer to where I grew up in Skipton. On my placement year I worked for a business specialising in the Utilities sector in Cheshire where I travelled the length and breadth of the country involved in large utility and renewable schemes.

Currently I get involved in all aspects of professional work including grants, planning, valuation and wider rural surveying matters.

Outside of work I enjoy a range of sports including running, horse riding and keeping fit at the gym; with an equal interest in a large glass of gin!

I enjoy being outdoors and find my weekends to consist of helping my partner on his hill farm based at the foot of Pendle hill.

Embarking on my journey into the surveying profession in 2024 through the Harper Adams Rural Enterprise and Land Management Degree Apprenticeship, I have already gained a wealth of practical experience during my first year at Wignalls Chartered Surveyors.

My work has encompassed a diverse range of responsibilities, including property agency, market appraisals, compensation claims, and a range of planning applications. This hands-on exposure has provided me with a strong foundation in both the technical and client-facing aspects of the profession.

Beyond the office, I remain deeply connected to my roots, assisting on the family farm where I can often be found cutting lettuce and contributing to the day-to-day operations. I am also passionate about rugby both as a player and as a coach for the Tarleton U7’s team, where I enjoy fostering teamwork and discipline in the next generation. In my spare time, I stay active through regular training at the gym, exploring mountain peaks, and unwinding with friends while watching the UFC.

Some clients may know or recognise me as I have worked locally all my life and have been involved with local Land Agency, Planning and Surveying for over 25 years.

My role here is to assist this fantastic hardworking team on a daily basis and helping to make sure the office runs efficiently but most importantly keeping our many clients happy.

For the majority of my life I lived in Tarleton and you may even see me on the side-lines at rugby or football, mainly in the rain! I love spending time with my Husband, Son and 2 dogs, enjoying meals out, catching up with friends and enjoying a large gin (or 2!).
